October Books

Its October and honestly, it seems that whatever I read at this point is gravy.

Boom Town was a fabulous read about Oklahoma City.  It brought back so many emotions having lived through many of the stories told.  Read this.

Defining Moments in Black History - Read this book.  I dont care what color you are - history is history and its all our history.  The stories are told well and I found myself bursting out in a bark of laughter at the use of words in this book.  The world is so rich in the people that live in it - we do ourselves a disservice if we dont read from them all.   Read this book.  Read Destiny Disrupted from a Muslim perspective.  Read them all.  Understanding breeds compassion and connectiveness.

The Road to Dawn - Have mercy.   This is about a man who took his wife and 3 small children to freedom in Canada after running away from slavery in Kentucky.   Seriously.   What this man accomplished, and then what he built in Canada, who he met (Queen of England).  Read his story.

And then there are 12 other books that are kept between the library and myself.

Grand total to date:  117
